As school districts finalize their budgets for the coming year, some local boards are considering or pursuing truth-in-taxation processes to address local financial needs. In that context, the Utah School Superintendents Association reaffirms its sincere gratitude for our partners in the Utah Legislature and their continued support of public education.

In recent years, lawmakers have made unprecedented investments in Utah’s schools, educators, and students. Those investments have strengthened educational opportunities across the state, and we recognize the significant effort and difficult decisions required to make them possible. We sincerely appreciate legislative leadership's consistent willingness to bring superintendents to the table. Your commitment to collaboration has fostered meaningful dialogue and has led to positive outcomes time and time again, and we look forward to continuing these conversations.

We also recognize that members of the Legislature carry the responsibility of balancing many competing priorities on behalf of the citizens of Utah. Their willingness to engage in open dialogue with local education leaders about Utah’s children has been instrumental in maintaining one of the strongest public education systems in the nation, and we value that relationship.

Utah’s success has always depended upon state and local leaders working together. We remain committed to respectful, accurate, and productive dialogue and to strengthening the partnership among legislators, local school boards, superintendents, and the communities we collectively serve.  Concerns will certainly arise, but our shared focus will remain on providing every Utah student with an excellent education and a strong future.
